Hyperlinking
Graphics element should be potentially an anchor or a target
Integration with the environment
Graphics are often part of a document; need to be XML, text-based, client-side interpretation, searchable, easy to edit, include metadata etc
Client side animation and interaction
Needed by many applications (eg, CAD, cartography)
Graphics Art is needed in some applications
Should be able to represent company logos, publicity images, etc
